On September 30th, the Elderly Association of the province collaborated with the International Elderly Support Organization in Vietnam (HAI) to welcome a Japanese delegation to visit and survey the Intergenerational Self-Help Club model in Group 3, Dan Chu Ward, Hoa Binh City.

The
Intergenerational Self-Help Club in Group 3 was established in March 2023 with
funding from the project "Reducing Vulnerabilities in Income and Health for Elderly People
in Hoa Binh Province”(VIE071). The project is funded by the Japanese Government through the Japan
Social Development Fund (JSDF), managed by the World Bank in Vietnam.
The
Intergenerational Self-Help Club in Group 3 has 59 members, with 8 main activities
aimed at fully implementing diverse activities to improve the material and
spiritual lives of the elderly and promote their participation in community
activities. The project has supported 27 members in accessing the preferential loans with a total outstanding
balance of nearly 140 million VND. A volunteer care team of 10 people has been
established to provide the healthcare
services to 9 individuals. The club also maintains arts and sports teams to
promote the physical health and
enhance the cultural and spiritual
life for its members.
During
the meeting, the Japanese delegation was briefed by the leadership of the
Intergenerational Self-Help Club in Group 3 on the formation and ongoing
implementation of project activities. They also shared the innovative methods to attract the
participation of the general public, particularly the elderly, in the local
area. The delegation raised the questions
to better understand the strengths and limitations in the club's activities.
As
part of the program, the delegation visited the families benefiting from ithe ncome-increasing models and observed the
volunteer-led healthcare model for the elderly people in the community.
The Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province held a conference on March 18 to review the performance of the "Safe and Happy School" Project and set out tasks for 2025. The project, funded by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students. The event saw the attendance of representatives from the TFCF and 26 beneficiary schools.
