Organised by Hue City People's Committee, the festival is a part of the activities to celebrate the 230th anniversary of Nguyen Hue’s victory against the Chinese Qing invaders (1789 - 2019), the 120th anniversary of establishing Hue town (July 12, 1899 - 2019), and the 120th anniversary of constructing Dong Ba market and Truong Tien bridge.

The 8th Hue Traditional Craft Festival aims to introduce unique products, for example, jewellery, embroidery, painted enamel, bronze casting, sewing Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress), wood, Zèng textile, ceramic, bamboo-made products, conical hats, paper flowers, paintings, lanterns, kites, gastronomy of Hue traditional crafts, craft villages, provinces, cities in Vietnam and overseas.

Especially, as traditional medicine is one of Hue’s characteristics, oriental doctors will have a chance to show their talents at this year’s festival.

In order to make a mark for tourists, the organising board will arranged the space to introduce some craft villages and production facilities with unique products which are participating in the Festival for the first time. Particularly, the organising board will focus on lotus products: lotus silk by artisan Phan Thi Thuan from Hanoi, and lotus wine, tea, paintings, leaf cones, towels, and fans of artisans from Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Thap.

Hue Traditional Crafts Festival is considered as an opportunity for artisans to show their talents, intellect and the quintessence of Vietnamese traditional crafts as well as create unique products to introduce to the public, domestic and international tourists.

The event is expected to make contributions to introducing and advertising the Hue image, and promote the trademark and position of Hue - the city of Festival, thereby supporting and developing traditional craft villages and the typical handicraft sector.
