(HBO) – Tourists have flocked to hamlets of Thai people in Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, since the third day of the Lunar New Year.

Tourists are cycling around a Thai hamlet in Mai Chau district.

Most tourists in Mai Chau are families or small groups who use lodging services in local hamlets.

Dam Thao Nguyen, a visitor from Hanoi, selected Pom Coong – a small, beautiful hamlet in Mai Chau town - to spend her Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Through the trip, family members tightened their bonds and got new experiences, with activities like cycling, enjoying local dishes and participating in cultural and art exchanges, she said.

Lac hamlet in Chieng Chau commune remained the most attractive community-based tourist site during the Tet holiday. Local families welcomed both Vietnamese tourists and foreigners who are living and working in Vietnam.

Ha Cong Hong, head of the hamlet, said local residents were happy to welcome tourists and celebrate Tet with them, and provided the best services for the holiday-makers.

Nguyen Thanh Thu from Hanoi said she and her friends were excited to visit the hamlet, and impressed most by the Tet atmosphere in local families. "Local residents offer us good accommodations and food and hospitality,” she said. "We had wonderful moments cycling around hamlets and exploring local nature and culture.”

Ha Thi Lieu, deputy head of the district bureau of culture-sports, said Mai Chau is a destination for those who are fans of landscape, leisure and cultural tourism, and the locality can satisfy different needs. During the Tet holiday, vacationers flocked to Mai Chau and stayed mainly in eco-tourist sites and homestays of Thai people.

Mai Chau counts seven community-based tourist sites operated by Thai people, which have lured crowds of holidaymakers. They are Lac hamlet in Chieng Chau commune, Van and Pom Coong hamlets in Mai Chau town, Nhot and Na Phon hamlets in Na Phon commune, Hich hamlet in Mai Hich commune and Phuoc hamlet in Xam Khoe commune.

These hamlets offered a safe Tet holiday to tourists, with new experiences./.
