In 2 days (December 2nd-3rd), in Hien Luong commune, the People's Committee of Da Bac district organized the Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism Promotion in 2023 with many special activities. This is a key activity in a series of the events promoting tourism in Da Bac district. The opening night of the festival with many special musical performances. On December 2nd, the event took place with the activities displaying and introducing OCOP products and the products of communes and the town in the district. On the same evening, the District’s People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the festival. Inthe morning of December 3rd, more than 400 tourists returned to Hien Luong commune to participate in the walking activities on the tourist route. Especially, Kayak rowing competition took place with the participation of over 100 athletes. After a morning of competition, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the athletes with the high achievements.
Da Bac is a land rich in revolutionary tradition, natural beauty and the ethnic cultural identities. It is a locality located in the planning area of the national tourism area within Hoa Binh lake. With the motto of making Da Bac into a green, safe and friendly destination, the festival is an opportunity for the district to promote and introduce the unique and typical cultural potential of the ethnic minorities to domestic and foreign tourists. This is also the foundation to create the attractive cultural and tourism products, aiming at the goal of developing tourism sustainably.
This is the second time Da Bac district has organized a tourism promotion event. According to the leaders of the district’s People's Committee, Da Bac district aims to organize this event annually to promote tourism development into a key economic sector, especially developing tourism in the communes within the area of Hoa Binh lake.
Hoa Binh has taken measures, focusing on removing barriers in terms of mechanism, policy, infrastructure, and upgrading technical infrastructure facilities serving tourism and the quality of human resources, to promote tourism development in the Hoa Binh Lake area.
Over the past time, Da Bac has deployed measures to lure more domestic and foreign visitors to the locality, aiming to turn tourism into the district’s economic spearhead.
Covering an area of over 52,000 hectares spanning districts of Mai Chau, Tan Lac, Cao Phong, Da Bac, and Hoa Binh City, Hoa Binh lake has strong potential for tourism development. In recent years, thanks to the attention of local Party Committees and authorities as well as support from international organisations, the advantages of tourism in the lake area have been utilised.
Mai Chau is a mountainous district and home to many ethnic groups such as Thai, Muong, Kinh, Mong, Dao, and Tay with distinctive cultural identities, creating a diverse and unique cultural treasure. Aware of its advantages, the district has paid attention to the preservation and promotion of ethnic groups’ cultural values so that culture will become a leverage for tourism and contribute to socio-economic development and life quality improvement.
