On November 3rd, the residential area, sub-zone 1, Mai Chau town (Mai Chau) organized the Great National Solidarity and the Culture Festival between the local people and the armed forces. There was the attendance of Colonel Do Thanh Binh, the Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Director of the Provincial Public Security; the leaders from the appropriate departments and branches of the province and Mai Chau district. This is the residential area chosen to host the Great Solidarity Festival in the district in 2024.

of the Provincial Public Security gave flowers and gifts from the Provincial
Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the
Fatherland Front of the province to congratulate the residential sub-area 1,
Mai Chau town (Mai Chau).
In the
residential sub-area 1, Mai Chau town there are 188 households with 693 people,
including 5 ethnic groups living together. In recent years, the people of all
ethnic groups in the residential area have united and emulated to well
implement the campaign "All people unite to build the new rural areas and
civilized urban areas” associated with the patriotic emulation movements. The
people have been actively supporting all kinds of funds, contributing to the
infrastructure construction, organizing visits, giving gifts to the families
under the preferential policies, the families in difficult circumstances in the
area with a total value of over 100 million VND in 2024... The rate of people buying
the health insurance reaches 99.86%. In 2024, the average income per capita
reach over 71 million VND, increasing 110.58% compared to that of 2023, there
are no more poor or near-poor households in the area. There are 183 households
recognized the title of the "Cultural Family”, reaching 99.5%, and ít is
recommended to be recognized as a cultural residential area in 2024.
Making the
speech at the festival, Colonel Do Thanh Binh, the Member of the Provincial
Party Standing Committee, the Director of the Provincial Public Security
praised and congratulated the results achieved by the people of in the
residential sub-area 1, Mai Chau Town in 2024. He hopes that in the coming
time, the officials and the people there continue to promote the spirit of the great
national solidarity, well implement the Party's guidelines, the policies and
laws of the State, and promote the good traditions, building a prosperous and
happy life, contributing to local socio-economic development.

For generations, the ethnic communities of Hoa Binh province, particularly the Muong people, have preserved vibrant festivals deeply intertwined with the region’s geography, nature, and social traditions. These celebrations enrich Hoa Binh’s spiritual life and cultural identity, reflecting both folk beliefs and the intermingling of ethnic customs. Many of these festivals have endured the test of time, passed down through generations and continuing to thrive today. Among them, the Khai Ha (Going Down to the Field) festival stands out as one of the most significant events of the Muong ethnic group.
Muong calendar, known as sach doi, is an ancient folk knowledge system developed through observations of the movement of the pleiades star. This unique calendar consists of 12 bamboo sticks, each representing a lunar month. Specific days within each month are marked with distinct symbols, guiding locals in determining auspicious and inauspicious days for important activities.
Authorities and residents of Chieng Chau commune, Mai Chau district, are making efforts to preserve and promote the historical value of a centuries-old gold apple tree (scientifically known as diospyros decandra lour), which has been recognised as a national heritage tree.
Hoa Binh is home to two types of Dong Son drums: Heger I and Heger II. These drums date back from the 4th century BC to the 5th century AD.
Mo is a term referring to a profession and cultural heritage which integrates folk beliefs with folk culture and arts. Practiced at funerals and religious rituals by the Muong ethnic people, it aims to provide spiritual comfort during significant life events such as illness and death.
