(HBO) – Villages across Yen Thuy district always go vibrant during traditional Tet and festivals, with songs and dances carrying the cultures of both the Kinh and Muong ethnics such as "Vui hoi hai bong”, "Senh Tien”, "Mua con” and "Trong du”.

 Yen Thuy district has maintained the operation of 115 art teams with 1,035 members.

Vice Director of the district culture-sport and tourism centre Nguyen Xuan Thu said that the district is home to more than 60,600 people, with the Muong ethnic accounting for 69.22 percent and Kinh 30.06 percent.

As Yen Thuy locals see culture is the spiritual foundation of the society, and a locomotive for the socio-economic development, they have proactively participated in the district’s cultural activities while trying to preserve their traditional culture, which has been nurtured for thousands of years.

The People’s Committees of communes and towns have worked to improve the operation of 115 art teams in hamlets, villages and residential areas, with 1,035 members. With financial support from the province and other sponsors, the teams have bought musical instruments and costumes, restored traditional dances and song, as well as organised performance to promote exchange between communes in the districts, and with district in the vicinity.

Thu added that his centre also joins hands with the culture-cinema centre to open cultural training courses for secretaries of the youth unions, president of farmers’ union and women’s union, and head of the art teams.

Besides, it has used the financial resources funded by the World Vision in an effective fashion to maintain and promote the operation efficiency of local gong clubs while preserving traditional dances and songs.

According to Secretary of the Party organisation at Tan Binh residential area and head of the front work in the area Dinh Thi Ngan, the art teams set up their operation plan, in which they instruct their members how to promote the teams’ roles in the communication work to raise public awareness of the Party and State’s policies.

Besides, they have made significant contributions to the building of new style rural areas and civilised urban areas, and eradication of unsound customs, she said, adding the moves help improve local livelihoods, and encourage ethnic people to promote solidarity and resilience to build a happy life./.
