As a rule, every year, Lac Son district organizes a traditional marathon tournament that gathers a large number of athletes. The XXXII District’s Traditional Marathon Tournament in 2024 has just kicked off, attracting nearly 130 athletes from the communes, the town, the other agencies, units and schools, showing the development and spread of the movement.
The Organizing Committee was awarding the young male team awards to the winning teams at the XXXII Lac Son District’s Traditional Marathon Tournament in 2024.
Participating in the tournament for the first time, not focusing on competing for high or low rankings, just trying to satisfy the passion for marathon sports, the athlete Quach Tung Lam in Thuong Coc commune met the Organizing Committee to register in the men's young event for the distance of 5 km. During the competition, he followed quite closely the top athletes and maintained his speed, completing the set goal. According to the athlete, running is his favorite sport and he practices every day to improve his health and fitness. In addition to the consolation prize for the young men's event, the greatest joy for him is the attention, encouragement, and cheering from the audience and relatives throughout the run and the finish line.
Being small in stature, his forte is soccer, and he has never been familiar with running, however, Bui The Vinh (born in 2013) in An Nghia commune registered to participate and became the youngest athlete in the tournament. His achievement was also quite surprising and impressive in the young men's event distance of 5km, Vinh was one of the athletes who completed the finish line early. He and his teammates won the third prize among the young male teammates, contributing to the best team achievement of An Nghia commune.
Recognized from the XXXII Lac Son District’s Marathon Championship in 2024, besides the promising young faces, a number of athletes maintained the stable performances and protected their personal achievements. It can be mentioned that the athlete Quach Thanh Men from Xuat Hoa commune won first place in the young women's event for the second time; The athlete Bui Van Minh from Van Nghia commune won the first place in the men's main event for the second time. Notably, the athlete Bui Diem Suong (Quyet Thang High School) who won the first place in the young women's event at the tournament is also the person who won the second prize in the high school women's event at the XXXI Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup in 2023.
Being easy to practice, effective in physical training, increasing endurance, and suitable for many ages, marathon sports is increasingly popular and loved by all classes of people. According to Ms. Bui Thi Tham, the Director of the Center for Culture, Sports and Communications of Lac Son district, marathon running movement has developed widely in the area and in the school system. In some communes and towns, running clubs and groups have been established, creating the healthy playgrounds and nurturing passion for many people to participate in regular exercise.
To increase response and participation in the grassroots sports practice movement, the district organizes an annual marathon running tournament. This is a tournament in the district's plan to organize the sports tournaments. Thereby, it helps to further improve the quality of the campaign "All people do exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho” and the movement "Be healthy to make a career and protect the country”, contributing to improving health to serve training, labor, production, construction and defense of the Fatherland; Arousing the sports potential of the people from all walks of life for sports in general and marathon running in particular. The tournament also aims to select the excellent athletes to be the core of the district's team to participate in the tournament organized by the province.
In the 2 consecutive seasons of the XXX and XXXI Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup (2022 - 2023), Lac Son district’s athlete delegation won the championship trophy with the first place for the entire delegation. The district is looking forward to the start of the XXXII marathon in 2024 with the determination to achieve high rankings.
After the final whistle of the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-final between Vietnamese team and Singaporian team sounded, thousands of football fans in Hoa Binh City burst into the joy of victory. Vietnamese team officially won a ticket to the final of the ASEAN Cup 2024 with a 3-1 victory (the total score after 2 semi-final matches is 5-1) against Singapore.
