The 32nd Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup in 2024 was a great success. For the athletes, the persistent, "speedy” running amid in cheering and the final smile of victory... are unforgettable memories.

From early morning on Saturday, November 16, nearly 200 athletes representing 23 delegations from the districts, the city, the Provincial Youth Communist Union, and the schools in the province gathered at Hoa Binh Square, Hoa Binh City to attend the opening ceremony, entering the competition.

At this year's tournament, the athletes competed for individual, team and group prizes. The competitive events included: the championship 7 km for men, 5 km for women); the young championship (5km for men, 3km for women); the student championship (6km for men, 4km for women). The race at all distances took place attractively right from the starting line with the enthusiastic cheers from the people and fans of the teams.

For the second consecutive year participating in Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup and finishing first in the women's championship, the athlete Bui Thi Kim Phuong from the Provincial Continuing Education Center excitedly shared: I am very excited, waiting to participate in the tournament. I want to send this joy to my family and my teachers who have always cared for and encouraged me during the learning and training process.

The most dramatic competition content of the tournament is the male main event. This is also the content with the largest number of athletes and it is really fierce, thrilling and attractive. The athletes competed with each other right from the start.

Without disappointing his teammates and as predicted by experts and fans, with his persistence, endurance, and diligence in training, the athlete Dinh Thanh Hue (Da Bac), despite being 37 years old, he continued to maintain his form and excellently left his opponents far behind at the finish line. This is the 14th time the athlete Dinh Thanh Hue won a gold medal at Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup, contributing greatly to the overall achievements of Da Bac team in recent years.

The 32nd Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup has attracted the attention of many sports lovers in the city and the districts. Nguyen Hong Nhung (Yen Thuy) did not hesitate to travel far to Hoa Binh City to cheer for his younger brother. With the enthusiasm of his sister and the encouragement of the team, the athlete Nguyen Xuan Bac, the 9th-grade student, tried his best and finished the second in the young men's 5-km event.

This year, the race track is arranged by the Organizing Committee according to a new schedule, quite beautiful and comfortable for the athletes, each lap is about 2.8km around Hoa Binh Square and Bac Tran Hung Dao residential area, Quynh Lam ward, Hoa Binh city.

Ms. Bui Thi Lieu from Quynh Lam ward, Hoa Binh City and many people in the area watching the athletes competing says: I am thrilled because the race track is located on the road in front of my house so it is convenient to cheer for the athletes.

In particular, this tournament there were also the participation of a number of Loas athletes from the colleges in the province. Of which, there were 6 athletes from Hoa Binh College of Engineering, 10 athletes from Hoa Binh College of Economics and Technology. Although the students from Laos did not achieve high results, they were all enthusiastic and happy to participate in the tournament for the first time.

With the increasingly professional scale and organization, the success of the 32nd Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup in 2024 has attracted the attention and direction of the province and the active participation of the Committee's member branches of the Organizing Committee and the districts and the city in the province along with the companionship of the sponsors.

According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan, the Editor-in-Chief of Hoa Binh Newspaper, the Head of the Steering Committee of the tournament, through 32 tournaments, up to now, the Traditional Marathon Tournament of Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup has made many contributions to its development and growth of the provincial sports.
