The Vietnamese took gold in the women’s 400m individual medley
(IM) with a time of 4:44.68.
Connie Dean of England came second clocking 4:46.63, while
Ilektra Lebl from Greece was third with 4:49.68.
Vien will next compete in the 200m IM, 100m backstroke, and 200m
butterfly events.
Vien is Vietnam’s foremost medal hope in the upcoming Asian
Games in Indonesia. She expects to win a gold and is sharpening her skills by
practising in the United States.
In the last Asian Games, Vien brought home two bronze medals in
the 200m backstroke and 400m IM.
The Pro Swim Series is an American swimming competition. The
winner of each category will receive five points for his/her world ranking
and a bonus of US$1,000.
