The Tuan Chau Ha Long Open 2018, a women’s one-star tournament of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach World Tour, officially commenced at the Tuan Chau International Resort in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, on May 10.
The first Main
Draw clash between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
The four-day competition features the participation of 18
teams from 12 countries, including Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Israel,
and hosts, Vietnam.
After the opening ceremony, the
first clash of the Main Draw took place between Vietnam and the Czech Republic,
with a 2-0 victory in favour of the guests.
Earlier, on May 9, the remaining
two Main Draw tickets were presented to Fanny Lindstrom and Sara Malmstrom, who
beat Talar Kirkor and Anniken Radstrom 2-0 (21-19, 21-14) in an all-Sweden
clash, and the Israeli pair Sofia Starikov and Noy Chorin, who easily handled
Russia’s Ekaterina Filina and Mariia Kontorskaia 2-0 (21-11, 21-13).
This is the 15thtime that the women’s beach
volleyball competition has been organised on Tuan Chau Island. From its humble
origins as a domestic event, the tournament has been elevated into a
continental-level event of the Asian Volleyball Federation, and has become an
official destination on the FIVB’s Beach World Tour in 2018.

A wide range of folk games and traditional sports competitions, including archery, tug-of-war, stick pushing, and men's volleyball, have taken place in Phu Nghia commune, Lac Thuy district, as part of the opening ceremony of the local Tien Temple Festival on February 13th and 14th (the 4th and 5th day of the Lunar New Year).
For the people in Doc Lap commune (Hoa Binh city), crossbow shooting is a folk game, and over the time it has become an indispensable national sport in the major local holidays and festivals. In May 2020, the crossbow shooting club of Doc Lap commune was established, satisfying the passion of the crossbow lovers. This is a playground for the members to exchange and share experiences, contributing to promoting the spirit of community cohesion and enriching the cultural life of the people in the area at the same time.
On February 5th, the Organizing Committee of Hoa Binh Marathon in 2024 held a meeting to discuss and agree on the contents of the tournament and assign the tasks to the members of the Organizing Committee.
