Vietnam’s Trinh Linh Giang fought back from a set down to beat the no. 2 seed and world no. 652, Karunuday Singh, in their second-round clash on May 16, to advance into the Vietnam F3 Futures quarterfinals in a convincing fashion.

Trinh Linh Giang is Vietnam's remaining hope in the men's singles event at the Vietnam F3 Futures.

Following the early exits of Vietnamese teammates, such as Nguyen Van Phuong, Tran Quang Truong, and especially the title favourite Ly Hoang Nam, all eyes are now on Trinh Linh Giang, the remaining Vietnamese representative in the men’s singles competition.

Singh, who once climbed to 393rd in the ATP rankings, had been expected to be a tough challenge for Linh Giang, being superior both in terms of experience and level compared to his Vietnamese opponent.

The Indian player confirmed his dominance by cruising to an overwhelming victory in the first set, claiming six consecutive games.

Second-seeded Karunuday Singh could not make use of his superior experience and level to overwhelm Vietnam's Trinh Linh Giang.

As the lopsided scenario looked set to continue in the second set, Linh Giang demonstrated his strong determination, confidence and resilience, forcing Singh to concede a 3-6 defeat and levelling the match.

The decisive set saw both players play with great precaution, bringing the score up to 6-6. It was the Vietnamese competitor who won the nail-biting tie-break at 8-6 to complete a successful resurgence and seal a place in the quarterfinals.

Next up for Linh Giang will be an encounter with the no. 7 seed, Pruchya Isaro of Thailand.
