(HBO) – The 12th table tennis tournament of Vietnam Journalists’ Association took place in Hanoi from September 13-16 with the participation of more than 230 athletes of 44 delegations nationwide.

The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Hanoi city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Besides journalists of the central and Hanoi press agencies, the tournament attracted those from journalists’ associations of cities and provinces like Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hoa Binh. They competed in 14 categories.

This was the event that lured the most athletes in the history of the tournament. It is a useful playground for journalists nationwide, offering them opportunities to meet, exchange and share professional experience.

Strong delegations included Cong an Nhan dan newspaper, Hanoi Radio Television, Vietnam Television, Ha Noi Moi newspaper, Vietnam News Agency, Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association, and Hung Yen province Journalists’ Association.

The organising board presents the prize to men’s doubles with leaders’ participation.

Four Hoa Binh journalists participated in the table tennis tournament, namely Bui Van Tuong, Luu Van Vinh, Nguyen Trung Kien and Ninh Duy Chung. They are working at Hoa Binh newspaper and Hoa Binh Radio and Television.

They competed in such events as men’s team, men’s singles, U45 men’s doubles, men’s singles (with leaders competing), and men’s double with participation of leaders.

They made concerted efforts to attain best achievements. Bui Van Tuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hoa Binh newspaper won a gold medal in men’s singles (with leaders competing), and Nguyen Trung Kiem from the Hoa Binh Radio and Television bagged silver medal in the men’s doubles with the participation of leaders.

This was the second time Hoa Binh province’s Journalist Association joined the table tennis tournament.

In 2011, the delegation brought home two bronze medals at women’s singles and mixed doubles events./.
