(HBO) – Ky Son district successfully organised the 2nd soft volleyball tournament for elderly people in 2018. This is a practical activity to celebrate International Day for Elderly Persons (October 1) and carry out an action month for Vietnamese elderly.

The
tournament drew the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 10 men’s team and
10 women’s teams from communes and town across the district. Teams played in a
robin format to select those for the semi-finals and finals.
During two days of competition with 30 exciting matches, the athletes delivered
thrilling performances. At the end, Yen Quang commune took the lead in the
women’s event, followed by Phuc Tien commune. Hop Thanh and Dan Ha communes won
third prizes.
In men’s event, Yen Quang commune was crowned the championship, Phuc Tien
commune came second while Ky Son town and Dan Hoa commune ranked third.
The soft volleyball tournament for the elderly creates opportunities for the senior
athletes to exchange and share experience, thus improving their skills. The
event serves as a healthy playground for elderly people to "live a happy,
healthy and useful life”./.
