Every year, on the anniversary of the Youth Union, Women's Union and national and lunar new year holidays, Gia Mo organizes sports competition with some traditional sports such as tug, pushing sticks, crossbow shooting, hitting array. On the occasion of organizing the Great Solidarity Festival, the entire population has recently organized sports competitions. However, the most popular sport is volleyball.

In this remote commune, there is a traditional tournament and it plays an important part in tightening the solidarity and ensuring the security. It is the volleyball tournament of 7 communes in Quyet Thang. Previously, Quyet Thang was a commune in Lac Son district. In 1956, this commune was divided into 6 new communes: Ngo Luong, Lu Son and Gia Mo belonging to Tan Lac district and 3 communes belonging to Lac Son district: Phu Luong, Chi Dao and Settlement. "Stemming from the passion for volleyball and with the view to tightening the solidarity and ensuring the security, the People's Committee of the commune met and decided to organize annual volleyball tournament. Each year, the tournament is held twice in each commune. One for the Youth Union, the other is for the women's volleyball team in the communes. All the tournaments attract a lot of people to cheer. From the exchange and the acquaintances, the local people know each other better, which helps tighten the relationship and there are no more collisions causing the disorder of the security”, said the Chairman of Gia Mo People's Committee.
