HBO – The 60th national cross-country run and marathon tournament of Tien Phong newspaper in 2019 was recently held in Vung Tau city of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

The event drew over 2,000 athletes at home and abroad, including 200 professional runners of 30 domestic delegations. The participants vied for medals in 92 team and individual categories (26 prizes for professional individuals, 50 prizes for amateur teams, and 16 prizes for professional teams).

Athletes from Hoa Binh province competed in different events and two brought home gold medals. They are Dinh Thanh Hue, a high-school teacher from Da Bac district, champion of the cross-country marathon tournament of Hoa Binh newspaper 2018, and Ban Thanh Tuyen, an athlete from the provincial team. Hue won the 21km run for men’s aged 30-39, while Tuyen came first in the 10km event for men’s amateur runners with an achievement of 35 minutes and 40 seconds.

This is the fourth time Hue has brought home the gold medal in the prestigious event hosted by Tien Phong newspaper (twice in the 5km event and once in 10km event for amateur runners). At this year’s tournament, Hue only ranked after four professional athletes in the 21km run for both amateur and professional athletes.

With two gold medals, the Hoa Binh delegation has shown their best performance in the tournament so far.

The exam covered the first (Shodan), second (Nidan), and third (Sandan) dan levels, with no fourth (Yondan) or fifth (Godan) dan tests this year.
