(HBO) – High-performance sports of Hoa Binh province have thrived in recent years with local athletes winning many prizes at regional and national competitions. Some sports have developed rapidly, obtaining a number of medals at different tourneys such as cycling, boxing, pencak silat, karate, and "day gay” (traditional pole pushing).
Cyclist Dinh Van Linh won two gold medals in the men’s
individual cross country time trial and Olympic cross country events at the
National
Mountain Bike Championship 2017.
Cycling cannot be missed out when talking about
high-performance sport of Hoa Binh. It is a strong sport of the province, with
a series of gold medals at sports tournaments. Aside from well-known and experienced
athletes with many achievements such as Dinh Van Linh, Bui Van Tuan and Ha Cong
Ky, young cyclists like Bui Thi Hue and Dinh Tuan Dat have also begun to make
their names known with gold medals at junior tourneys. Some athletes have been
summoned for the national team such as Dinh Van Linh, Bui Van Tuan, Nguyen Van
Quang and Bui Thi Hue. Among them, Dinh Van Linh is highly valued by insiders
and was presented with the National Master title.
Some other sports have also received much
investment, which resulted in many medals at different competitions like
athletics, karate, pencak silat and wrestling. In the first eight months of
2017, Hoa Binh selected and gave training to 70 athletes who took part in 14
regional and national tournaments. The athletes brought home 10 golds, six
silvers and 14 bronze medals. Among the medals, cycling alone accounted for
eight golds, three silvers and eight bronzes.
Local high-performance sports have made great
strides and attained considerable achievements over the past years. Many of Hoa
Binh sportsmen have been recognized as level-1 athletes or national masters.
Some have been called to national teams and won medals at national and
international championships, thus helping to raise Hoa Binh’s position in the
national sport scene.
Dinh Danh Hanh, Deputy Director of the
provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said despite an array of
difficulties, local high-performance sports have obtained significant results.
Hoa Binh is considered a province full of potential for high-performance sports
development.
The provincial People’s Committee has built a
plan on developing local high-performance sports for 2017-2020, with a vision
to 2030. The plan sets up concrete targets, tasks and solutions to develop
high-performance sports in a sustainable and professional manner and gradually
improve Hoa Binh’s ranking in national sports.
At the 8th National Sports and Physical Training
Festival in 2018, the province will compete in six sports (cycling,
weightlifting, athletics, boxing, pencak silat, and karate), targeting three
gold, two silver and six bronze medals. It aims at the 40th position among 65
participating provinces, cities and sectors and a place in the top 10 of the 19
mountainous provinces participating in the festival./.
During the two days, November 7 - 8, the Provincial Women's Union organized the steam volleyball tournament for the officials of the Women's Union at all levels of Hoa Binh province in 2024. There was the attendance of Mr. Bui Tien Luc, the member of the Standing Committee, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization.
On October 31st, the Culture, Sports and Communications Center of Tan Lac district coordinated with the District’s Youth Union to organize the 2024 traditional marathon tournament of the district.
After the 2024 Traditional Marathon Tournament, Luong Son district has established a team with many high-ranking runners, focusing on fostering, training and being ready to compete at the XXXI Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup Traditional Marathon Tournament in 2024.
Taking place from October 9 to 20 in Hoa Binh City, the National Road and Mountain Bike Championships 2024 attracted hundreds of young athletes from provinces and cities across the country.
In the afternoon of October 26th, at Hoa Binh Provincial Stadium, Hoa Binh Football Club (Hoa Binh FC) had a confrontation with Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club in the framework of round 1 – the First National Division Football Tournament in 2024 - 2025.
In the morning of October 22nd, at Yen Thuy District’s Stadium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Yen Thuy District’s People's Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 Volleyball Championship of Hoa Binh province.
