(HBO) - On October 30, 2017, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Assembly issued Resolution No. 18 on " The Development of High - Achievement Sports in Hoa Binh in the period of 2017 - 2020, with a vision to 2030”. The Resolution has been expected to have positive changes in the province's high-achievement sports.

Overcoming the difficulties and the lack of facilities, the provincial athletes of weightlifting team has actively been practicing and preparing for the upcoming tournaments.

The implementation of the resolution, the investment in the facilities for the development of the high-achievement sports is of top priority. The provincial stadium has been invested in repairing, upgrading and renovating the piste to comply with the standards. The provincial swimming pools has been implemented the policy of socialized investment in the form of joint venture, association, cooperation in exploitation, management and use. The province's gymnastics has been repaired and upgraded with a total investment of 5.6 billion VND, serving many regional and national sports events. 

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has surveyed, designed, estimated, and applied for the investment policy in building off-road bicycle races with the national and international standard in Dan Chu ward (Hoa Binh city) to serve the practice and the organization of the regional, national and international bicycle races in the province, aiming to host the bicycle competitions in the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam. The sports works of the districts and the city have been gradually completed, partly meeting the needs of practicing and organizing sports activities in the locality. Currently, in the whole province there are 13 stadiums (11 one with stands), 44 gyms for multi-purpose sports, 1 swimming pool with 50 meters long, 52 swimming pools of all kinds, 230 mini football fields, 1,402 volleyball courts, 399 badminton courts, 51 tennis courts.

The selection, training, coaching and competition have been paid attention to. Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, the headmaster of the Gifted School for Sports Training and Competition, says: In the period of 2017 - 2020, the school has invested in developing and improving the quality of selection, training and coaching 7 classes of Gifted Sports. They are cycling, pencak silat, weightlifting, track and field, boxing, karate, taekwondo with a total of 100 students. We have signed contracts with 45 turns of athletes of high-achievement sports to train and compete for the provincial team. We have selected and trained 688 turns of athletes to compete in 74 regional and national sports tournaments, and they have won 263 medals (of which there are 89 gold medals, 91 silver medals and 83 bronze medals). In particular, there were 19 turns of athletes earning the title of grandmaster, there were 21 turns of athletes awarded the national level I, 18 turns of athletes are summoned to the national off-road bicycle team. The cyclist, Dinh Van Linh, was summoned to Vietnamese bicycle team to participate in 30th SEA Games in 2019 held in the Philippines. Every year, the province hosts a safe and successful 2 or 3 national bicycle championships.

The socialization of the investment in building infrastructure sports has been promoted. In addition to the State's investment capital, the mobilization of the social resources has promoted the movement developing in both quantity and quality. Many sports business establishments have been formed, deducting nearly 100 VND billion a year to hand in the provincial budget. Typically, they are Phuong Hoang golf course (Luong Son), Trung Minh golf course (Hoa Binh city) ... Up to now, 2 federations have been established in the province. The provincial racket federation was established in 2007, Kartedo Federation was established in 2017. Many works and business establishments have been built by businesses, organizations and individuals, such as swimming pools, soccer fields, tennis courts. rackets, gyms, yoga, table tennis, martial arts ..., which are step by step meeting the organization of sports activities and the people's practice needs.

Looking back at the results after 3 years of implementing Resolution No. 18, the Headmaster of Gifted School for Sports Training and Competition affirmed that the province's high-achievement sports has gradually developed, approached and achieved high results at the domestic and international competitions. In the province there was a runner awarded a title of the level I athlete, the national grandmaster, and the runner who was summoned to the national bicycle team to attend the SEA Games. We have successfully been hosting many major sports events, creating an important premise to continuing hosting the national sports tournaments and cycling in the SEA Games in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the image of Hoa Binh culture, raising the status of the provincial sports with other provinces in the region and all over the country. The above - achieved results have created the momentum to promote the development of high-achievement sports in the next period.
