(HBO) – Hoa Binh newspaper has coordinated with the Hoa Binh province Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Education and Training, to organise the 26th Hoa Binh newspaper cross-country run tournament in 2017. The tournament was sponsored by Viettel’s branch in Hoa Binh province.

Officially launched in 1992, the Hoa Binh newspaper cross-country run tournament has become an annual sport event, attracting crowds of officials and people in and outside the province. This year’s event brought together 132 athletes from 20 teams representing Hoa Binh city, ten districts, the Military Command, high schools and regular education centres in the province, who competed for six sets of medals.

Dinh Thanh Hue crosses the finish line in the men’s category

Results of single category: Dinh Thanh Hue (Da Bac) won the first prize in the men’s event while the first prize of the women’s category came to Luong Thi Hong Tan (Da Bac). The first prize of the young male athlete category was presented to Xa Thanh Son (Da Bac) and the first prize of the young female athlete category went to Xa Ngoc Thuy (Da Bac). At the high school-student level, the first prize was handed over to Bui Van Dat ( Quyet Thang High School) in the men’s category and Bui Thi Thu Huong (the regular education centre) in the women’s category.

The first prize of the men’s team category was presented to the provincial Military Command and of the women’s team category to Hoa Binh city. Da Bac district won the first prize of both young men and women’s team categories. Da Bac High School claimed the first prize of the men’s team category and the regular education centre won the first prize of the women’s team category at the high school-student level. At the end of the tournament, Da Bac district took the first prize while Luong Son and Ky Son districts pocketed the second and third prizes.

Besides, the organizing board also hounoured the youngest male athlete Quach Van Hung (born in 2005 in Yen Thuy); the youngest female athlete Nguyen Bach Kim (born in 2005 in Luong Son) and the best coach Bui Tien Anh (Da Bac). The cross-country run movement award 2017 was presented to Luong Son; the cross-border run movement award for high schools and students to Muong Chieng High School and the style award to Ky Son district regular education centre.
