(HBO) - Responding to the campaign "All people do exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho”, the movement of physical training and sports in Kim Boi district has developed with many exciting activities over the past years. The content and the form of organization are diversifying, which has attracted the participation of a large number of people in the whole district. Thereby, it has been contributing to preserving and promoting the national identity, as well as improving the health and building a healthy life in the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemics.


The athletes were competing in the tug of war at the 1st Sports Festival in Kim Boi commune (Kim Boi) in 2021.

Every afternoon, walking along 12B national road passing through Kim Boi district, it is not difficult to see the active football and volleyball fields. In the wide lawns, groups of children are divided into football teams. In the community yard of the hamlet, the elderly play soft volleyball, the young play steam volleyball. In many residential areas, it is also equally exciting, the matches of badminton, shuttlecock, and bicycle racing are regularly held on a "homegrown” scale.

In Kim Lap commune, after being established on the basis of merging 3 communes, Hop Kim, Lap Chieng, Kim Son, the mass sports movement here is increasingly promoted. Here, the people consider physical training and sports as a regular job and an indispensable spiritual food. In particular, since the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemics, the people have often reminded each other to improve their health to fight the disease. In 2020, there are 2,893 people who practice sports regularly, 1,305 sports families, accounting for 65% of the total number of households in Kim Lap. Thanks to the promotion of physical training and sports, the cultural and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved, creating a healthy environment. Through the sports exchanges, the discuss the ways of doing business, developing family economy, and raising children so that they are good and study well.

"In 2021, it is impossible to organize any commemoration activities or sports competitions with a large concentration of people. However, the national sports such as crossbow shooting, tug of war, and stick pushing are still regularly practiced in Kim Lap commune so that as soon as Covid-19 epidemics is under control, there will be a plan to organize the commune's 1st Sports Congress” – Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, the officer in charge of culture and sports of the commune said.

Similar to Kim Lap, thanks to the proper attention and direction of all levels and branches in the area, the movement of physical training and sports in localities in Kim Boi district is growing with many positive signs. Mr. Quach Thanh Ha, the Director of the District’s Center for Culture, Sports and Information said: In 2020, the district still well maintained the operation of 67 out of the 68 sports clubs, 41,322 people practice sports regularly. The district has organized 4 district-level sports tournaments attracting the participation of 2,000 turns of students and athletes. In addition, they have maintained the training and practice for the athletes participating in 4 provincial sports tournaments.

According to the plan, since the beginning of the year, the district organized the volleyball exchanges to celebrate the Party and the spring of Tan Suu on the 4th day of the lunar New Year; Kim Boi Elite Cup Soccer Tournament in 2021. In addition, they organized the District’s Volleyball Championship and Table Tennis - Badminton tournament (the competition is part of the 7th Kim Boi District’s Physical Training and Sports Congress in 2021). They selected and established a team of the district’s athletes to practice and participate in the Provincial Volleyball Championship in March in Yen Thuy district. The results were 1 third prize for the male team and 1 third prize for the female team. They selected the athletes to participate in the Provincial Table Tennis - Badminton Tournament in 2021, winning 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

In the coming time, if Covid-19 epidemic is well controlled, the district will have a plan to organize the tournaments within the framework of the district’s Physical Training and Sports Congress. At the same time, they continue coordinating with the youth communist union at the grassroot level to open the gifted classes and instruct the swimming and drowning skills for children in the district. They will creat conditions for practice and competition so that the mass sports have the opportunity to develop and spread widely in the community, creating a healthy and useful playground for the people after hard working and studying hours.
