According to the Deputy Director General, who is in charge of the General Department of Sports & Physical Education, Mr. Tran Duc Phan, the promulgation of the General Department's guidance on piloting the tournaments of high-achievement sports adapting to the new situation is due to the fact that "the athletes who practice for a long time but they can't take part in a competition, which will not be able to solve the psychological problem. As a result of this, we are going to hold some pilot tournaments early to get experiences, and then we can synchronize the other tournaments”. Badminton and karate will be piloted in this tournament under the national competition system in this period. Thai Binh has been chosen to organize the team championship and individuals nationwide in 2021 next November.
The representative of the locality, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Binh province, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung said: "We have received the guidelines for piloting the organization of high-achievement sports tournaments in the new normal time. Thai Binh has been chosen as the venue for two national tournaments of badminton. The Department's Board of Directors has reported to the Provincial People's Committee to ask for the guidelines and orientations, and we have also worked with the provincial Department of Health about the health, the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemics. However, we cannot organize it right in October as we need the most thorough and the safest preparation, and we have to move it to November”. For karate, the leader of this sports also said that although it was selected as the first pilot sports to be organized, however, due to the preparation work, the national championships in 2021 taking place in Thanh Hoa province can only be held in November. The leader of the karate has reported the plan to the leaders of Thanh Hoa province and is waiting for the opinions of the provincial leaders and the health sector to agree on the specific time.
On October 12, the General Department of Sports & Physical Education issued Official Letter 1362/TCTDTT-TTTTCII signed by the leaders of the General Department and it was sent to the provinces, the cities and the appropriate branches to guide the organization of the tournaments in appropriate conditions of the new normal time. In addition to the contents referring to the professional work, the elements of ensuring medical safety and organizing the tournaments in a "closed” manner has been specifically instructed. Right after issueing the official letter, not only badminton and karate but other sports have also been planned to take place again. According to the General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, Mr. Le Tri Truong, the time to organize the second round of the national championship in 2021 is expected to take place from December 14 to December 25, however, the plan to organize the tournament depends on the scenario and the implementation of the host locality.
Currently, Quang Nam and Dak Nong provinces have been selected to host the second round of the national championship in 2021, but it is necessary to wait for the final decision from the management of the two provinces. In case the locality cannot be ready to organize, the plan to find an alternative hosting location will be implemented immediately. The head of the Table Tennis sports and also the Department and General Secretary of the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, Mr. Phan Anh Tuan said: The federation has sent Official Letter No. 10/LDBBVN (October 8) on the organization of the 39th Table Tennis Championships of Nhan Dan Newspaper in 2021 to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province to ask for the opinions on the organization plan. The view of the Department and the Federation is that the tournament will be held when fully ensuring the organization and especially the health safety, the epidemic prevention and control according to the regulations. Only then, athletes can confidently compete. If nothing changes, the tournament is expected to be held from November 26 to December 5.
In order to control the pilot organization of the upcoming national championships and localities in the new normal situation, all tournaments are without spectators. The local organizers will distinguish three groups of participants for the tournament in accordance with the guidance of the General Department of Sports & Physical Education, while the closure will be implemented from the transportation, the accommodation and Covid-19 test for the members attending the tournament.
