(HBO) - After working hours, the officials, the party members and the people of Nanh Nghe commune (Da Bac) gather at the playground of the headquarters to practice, unleashing their passion for sports. The cheers encouraging each other spread the spirit of solidarity, the positivity in sports practice following the great example of Uncle Ho, contributing to improving health and promoting the local socio-economic development at the same time.

The officials and the people of Nanh Nghe commune (Da Bac) are playing table tennis to stay healthy.

At the playground of the headquarters of Nanh Nghe commune, there are about 15 athletes practicing hard volleyball, table tennis… Accordingly, doing exercises is maintained everyday, forming habits and routines to relieve pressure and fatigue after the stressful working hours. To ensure the prevention and control of the epidemics, no more than 20 people gather at the playground, and hand sanitizer are placed there, too. Mr. Xa Van Phanh says: Every afternoon, I and and those who share the same passion for sports often practice, exchange and compete with each other. Depending on the preferences of each person, sometimes we play table tennis, sometimes we play soft volleyball. Playing sports not only improves health, but it also helps people be more mentally alert, closer and more united with eacg other.

There are 827 households with 3,331 people living in 9 hamlets in Nanh Nghe commune. The percentage of people who regularly play sports remains at over 30%. In which, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis are favourite sports. Depending on the age, the interests and the health condition, the villages and the hamlets in the area have established teams and groups maintaining daily sports practice. The main force is the officials, the members of the Youth Communist Union, the young people, the women, the elderly... According to the review, currently there are 2 volleyball courts at the headquarters of the Communal People's Committee, 3 badminton courts in the whole commune. In addition, the people in the hamlets take advantage of the vacant land to build stakes, and they buy nets to have the place to play and practice. Additionally, the ethnic sports such as stick pushing, tug of war, crossbow shooting are still maintained and practiced regularly to prepare for sports tournaments organized by the district and the province. At the same time, it contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional identity, passing the fire on to the next generations.

In order to create a useful sports ground for the people to compete and improve their professional qualifications, the commune has directed the branches and the mass organizations to mobilize the budget and the socialization funds to maintain the sports tournaments on holidays and Tet. Thereby, it helps create a joyful atmosphere, attracting a large number of those who work far away to gather, exchange and compete. At the same time, they have been maintaining the sports exchanges at weekends with Giap Dat and Muong Chieng communes and some neighboring commune on Son La and Phu Tho provinces.

The current problem for developing sports and physical training in Nanh Nghe commune is still facing many difficulties and challenges. In fact, as a commune in region 135, the budget is limited and people's economic life is still difficult. According to the review, the stadium and the cultural house with a sports ground havee not been built in the commune yet. Mr. Bui Van Thuong from Moc hamlet says: There is not a lighting system in the volleyball courts at the headquarters of the Communal People's Committee and the hamlets, so in the winter, people can only play for about 30-45 minutes, then it's already dark. Moreover, every time the football clubs of the villages and hamlets organize a sports exchange, they have to move nearly 20 km to Muong Chieng commune to play.

Mr. Bui Van Phuc, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nanh Nghe Commune says: In the coming time, the Party Committee and communal authorities will continue propagating and mobilizing the people to actively play sports in order to improve their health and increase the solidarity among the people. The stromng sports such as volleyball, tug of war, stick pushing will be focussed on... They will mobilize and effectively use the state support resources to build and upgrade the playgrounds of the cultural houses, to purchase equipment for daily fun and exercise. Thereby, it helps promote the movement of mass sports and phýical training, creating a spirit of emulation and enthusiasm to successfully complete the set goals and targets of the socio-economic development.
