(HBO) – Hoa Binh will host the competitions in mountain biking and road cycling of the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), which will take place from May 12-23 in 12 localities. Regarding the preparations for the largest regional sports event, Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the province's SEA Games organising committee, said that specific plans and programmes have been built to ensure thorough and careful preparations for the events.

The provincial People’s Committee has directed the upgrading of cycling venues
and build new racing courses for the competitions, he said, adding that so far,
90 percent of the work has been completed.
The official added that Hoa Binh considers the hosting of the events as a
significant political, cultural and external relations task, and a good chance
for the province to promote tourism.
As part of the efforts to popularise its tourist destinations to visitors on
the occasion, Hoa Binh has set up a sub-committee to provide tourism services
for visitors. Through the events, Hoa Binh hopes to promote its OCOP products
and specialties to domestic and foreign fiends, he said.
Toan said that the province will organise a number of activities to welcome SEA
Games 31, including the 30th mountain running tournament - Hoa Binh Newspaper
Cup, and a week-long traditional market in Mai Chau. Hoa Binh also plans to
hold an exchange with visitors to popularise its image.
Regarding COVID-19 prevention and control measures, Toan said that a
sub-committee for security and health care was set up, along with detail plans
for COVID-19 control during SEA Games 31. Medical staff, equipment and medicine
have also been prepared to be ensure safety for participants at the events
against the pandemic, he added.
To finalise the preparations for hosting the competitions, the provincial
official said that Hoa Binh will review the entire racing road system and make
necessary amendments, while all local departments and agencies will design
their own plans and allocate specific officials to take charge of the
implementations of the plans./.
During the two days, November 7 - 8, the Provincial Women's Union organized the steam volleyball tournament for the officials of the Women's Union at all levels of Hoa Binh province in 2024.
