(HBO) – Cao Phong district in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh has successfully organized its 5th Physical Training and Sports Grand Festival.

Gong performance by 200 artisans at the festival


The 5th Physical Training and Sports Grand Festival of Cao Phong district attracted the participation of more than 1,000 athletes competing in eight events: volleyball, football, tug of war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, badminton, table tennis and Chinese chess.


The event was designed to encourage local people to regularly exercise, thus improving health to serve work, study and socio-economic development. Along with encouraging locals in physical exercise following the example of President Ho Chi Minh, the festival helped preserve and develop traditional sports and enhance integration of modern sports.


Through the event, excellent athletes will be chosen to compete in the 6thPhysical Training and Sports Grand Festival 2018 of Hoa Binh province.


Procession of flag and Uncle Ho’s portrait and parade demonstration came after the opening ceremony. It was followed by a gong performance by200 local artisans and brilliant mass performance staged by 300 pupils of Cao Phong town secondary school.


The final rounds of men’s and women’s football and volleyball took place right after the opening ceremony, seeing the competition of athletes from Tay Phong, Xuan Phong, Dung Phong, Nam Phong, Thu Phong communes and Cao Phong town.


The team’s first prize was presented to Nam Phong commune which  pocketed 11 gold, three silver and one bronze medals. Dung Phong came second with five gold, seven silver and five bronze medals. The team’s third prize belonged to Xuan Phong commune with five gold, seven silver and one bronze medals.

On February 23, the Hoa Binh Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training’s karate division and the provincial Karate federation, organised the 2025 national karate dan promotion exam at the provincial sports arena. The exam covered the first (Shodan), second (Nidan), and third (Sandan) dan levels, with no fourth (Yondan) or fifth (Godan) dan tests this year.
