Female Vietnamese boxer, Do Hong Ngoc, has booked her place in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after settling for a silver medal at the AIBA Women’s World Youth Boxing Championships 2017 in Guwahati, India, on November 26.

Ngoc, 17, produced a huge surprise
in the 57kg weight category as she exceptionally overcame an array of strong
competitors from Turkey, the United States and China, to set up a final match
with host fighter, Chopra Shashi.
Despite losing 1-4 to Shashi, the
Can Tho-born boxer left a strong impression as she became the first
Vietnamese medalist at the world youth tournament.
By making the final, Do Hong Ngoc
has secured an official ticket to the third edition of the Summer Youth
Olympics in Argentina next year.
The world youth boxing championship
took place from November 19 to 26, with the participation of 160 fighters
representing 31 countries and territories from around the world. The boxers
battled it out for medals in 10 weight classes, ranging between 48kg and
81kg.
