The Grand Prix tournament started in Moscow, Russia from August 4-6 and moved to Morocco between September 22-24 and the United Kingdom from October 20-22, before landing in Ivory Coast on December 2-3 for the final stage.

The women’s 49kg competition saw Kim Tuyen finish off Serbian competitors, Bogdanov and Stankovic, with respective scores of 25-12 and 11-8.

However, the Vietnamese fighter failed to conquer the semifinal challenge posed by Kim So Hui from the Republic of Korea (ROK), conceding a regretful 15-17 defeat.

It was the second time so far this year that Tuyen lost at the hand of Kim So Hui. Earlier in the second stage of the Grand Prix, the Vietnamese fighter suffered a 4-15 loss to the ROK opponent in the final clash.

In the third-place match, Tuyen proved to be a too tough challenge for Yildirim, fending off the Turkish competitor for the bronze medal.

The gold medal of the 49kg category went to Panipak Wongpattanakit from Thailand, who won the decisive match against Kim So Hui.
