(HBO) – The 2023 national mountain bike tournament has wrapped up in Hoa Binh province with the team of Hoa Binh winning the first place.

The tournament, part of the 2023 national mountain bike and road racing championships that took place from October 19-22, attracted more than 200 male and female athletes from 13 delegations nationwide, namely Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Son La, Vinh Phuc, An Giang, Dong Thap, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Hoa Binh, and the army.

The event contributed to the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TU dated October 30, 2017, of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee on developing high-performance sports in 2017-2020 with a vision to 2030. It is also an occasion for Hoa Binh to introduce its tourism potential, culture, and people to other localities. 

Dao Tien Cuong, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the event provided an opportunity for coaches and athletes of Hoa Binh province to gain more experiences and created a motivation for the cycling training movement in the locality.

Athletes competed in the men’s and women’s individual cross-country timing and relay categories.

Dinh Van Linh of Hoa Binh won five gold medals, three of which are in men’s individual events, and two in team categories.

Hoa Binh secured the first place of the tournament with nine medals, including five gold, two silver, and 2 bronze, followed by Binh Duong with four gold and three silver medals.

With impressive performance, Dinh Van Linh was selected to be one of the seven representatives of Vietnam to compete in the 28th Asian mountain bike championship and the 14th Asian mountain bike youth championship which took place from October 24-30 in India.
