A wide range of folk games and traditional sports competitions, including archery, tug-of-war, stick pushing, and men's volleyball, have taken place in Phu Nghia commune, Lac Thuy district, as part of the opening ceremony of the local Tien Temple Festival on February 13th and 14th (the 4th and 5th day of the Lunar New Year).

Participating in the archery, tug-of-war, and
stick pushing competitions were over 200 athletes from ten communes and towns
in the district. Among them, some 150 competed in three tug-of-war categories
of men's, women's, and mixed ones, while more than 20 others in four archery
categories of standing women's, standing men's, kneeling women's, and kneeling
men's. Stick pushing brought together over 20 athletes rivalling in the men's
and women's categories of various weight classes.
At the end of these competitions, the organising
committee awarded 26 first, 26 second, and 26 prizes to those obtaining
outstanding results in the three sports.

Meanwhile, the men's volleyball exchange saw the
participation of five teams from the districts of Lac Thuy, Yen Thuy, Kim Boi,
Lac Son, and Tan Lac. And locals joined some traditional games such as walking
on stilts and cheraw dance.
The sporting activities contributed to creating
a joyful and lively atmosphere in the early days of the Lunar New Year,
promoting the practice of various sports, improving the well-being of the
community, and strengthening solidarity and community bonds.
