It is encouraging that the team exceeded the expectations by winning 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals overall. Vovinam (Vietnamese Martial Arts) is a prominent martial arts discipline in Vietnam, founded in 1936. It integrates the traditional Vietnamese martial arts with the elements from various foreign martial arts disciplines, based on the principle of Cuong Nhu Phoi Trien. This martial art emphasizes the practical combat and self-defense. In Hoa Binh Province, the Vovinam Club was officially established in June 2011, leading to the formation of the provincial Vovinam Federation in 2021. These milestones paved the way for the continued strong growth of the Vovinam movement, aiming for higher goals and achievements. At its inception, the club encountered several challenges. Vovinam was still unfamiliar to the populace. Some Vovinam clubs acted as the nuclei, laying the groundwork for the birth and growth of the numerous grassroots clubs, gradually spreading the movement. Over the past years, the development of the club members has always been a focus. According to statistics of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in 2023, in the province, there were 14 grassroots Vovinam clubs with nearly 700 practitioners, primarily students aged 6 - 18. Presently, 8 districts and cities have established the clubs under the management regulations of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, being recognized as the member grassroots clubs of the provincial Vovinam Federation. Most of the grassroots Vovinam clubs maintain daily training sessions. Today, Vovinam is not only a popular sport chosen by many people for regular training to improve health and spirit but it also helps develop the essential self-defense skills, the healthy lifestyles, discipline, moral qualities, and strong will.

Some localities have witnessed the rapid growth in both quantity and quality of Vovinam training, notably in Luong Son and Da Bac districts. Thanks to the regular and systematic training, the grassroots Vovinam clubs in these districts have achieved impressive results in various provincial competitions. At the 4th expanded Hoa Binh Province Vovinam Championship in 2023, with the participation of nearly 600 athletes from 35 units in 7 districts and the city within the province and the numerous provinces and cities nationwide, only two units from our province, Luong Son and Da Bac districts, won the whole-team awards. Specifically, Luong Son district secured the runner-up position with 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals, while Da Bac district received the encouragement award for the entire team.

Every year, the provincial Vovinam Federation and provincial Vovinam clubs organize the expanded competitions and exchanges between the grassroots clubs, providing a beneficial playground for the athletes to exchange, learn, accumulate experience, and improve the professional skills and techniques. Moreover, the coaches regularly undergo training to promptly grasp changes in training work to develop the movement at the grassroots level.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quan, the Vice President of the Provincial Vovinam Federation, states, "Vovinam in Hoa Binh continues to grow and strengthen, gradually integrating into the development of Vovinam in the region and nationwide. In the coming time, we will try to develop Vovinam training activities steadily, spreading strongly to all localities in the province”.

Despite achieving some positive milestones, the Vovinam training movement in our province is not yet evenly and widely spread. In the coming time, to solidify the position of this martial art, more attention from all levels, sectors, and localities in the province is needed to build and develop the movement.
