Vietnamese chess star Le Quang Liem has fallen to 23rd spot, with a new Elo rating of 2,737, in the latest International Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings for January 2018.

Towards the end of 2017, Quang Liem competed in two major tournaments, going on to win a bronze medal at the International Mind Sports Association Elite Games in China.

He was less fortunate at the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ultimately coming away empty handed.

As a result, Le Quang Liem finished 16th and 30th in the rapid and blitz chess events, respectively.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son stands in 150th place in the world ranking for standard chess with an Elo rating of 2,630.

Female chess player Vo Thi Kim Phung registered an Elo rating of 2,425 and ranks 40th in the world ranking for standard chess.
