(HBO) - Lo Thi Di, a girl of Thai people was born and grew up in Lac village, Chieng Chau commune (Mai Chau). Ms. Di was taught her ethnic texture by her grandmother and mother from the childhood. She has always dreamed that she would promote the value of essential brocade, preserve and honor the traditional character.

It was both a motivation and a dedication to open her own textile factory a few years ago. The workshop recruited 6 other colleagues to run the expert texture business. It is also a unique tourism space of the craft village with its own decoration. Every step was handmade in the workshop.

Sharing her experiences, Ms. Di said: "8 years ago, when I and other colleagues attended a training course of JICA project (Japan) to improve the skill, my belief in the traditional restoration of the brocade texture was strengthened. The first products were usually sold through Chieng Chau Brocade Texture Cooperative. After that, I split to open my own factory and gathered the sisters in the village to participate. In addition to maintaining the sale of products through Chieng Chau Brocade Texture Cooperative , I would like to promote and introduce the textile products of my ethnic to the world. It would be followed my own ideas in an active way.”

As the results of that, the textile factory associated with tourism business to display the essentially weaved product of Thai ethnic was opened by Ms. Di, a little girl with her great passion of the texture. When coming to Di’s textile factory, the tourists often fell strange and different. It can be confirmed that there is not any other similar textile factories in Thai village (Mai Chau) to this one. Separating from the bustle and trade of the village, tourists can visit, admire and blend into the Thai culture space in the workshop. All products that are displayed and presented to visitors are handmade.

Each product is also a creative dedication, 100% of natural cotton - a suitable material with the environment. Ha Van Mung, a head of Lac village says that there is only Di’s textile factory attracting women to work in the village. It is also a combined model of the traditional brocade texture and the effective and unique tourism.

The time spent on the texture is during the day time, but the income is good. The average earnings is 3 million VND/ person/ month. The income is over 4 million VND a month with a highly qualified workers.

Lac village is a tourism spot with more than 60 households doing the brocade texture. The principal products  there are imported from other localities, weaved by machine with a low price. However, the majority of visitors, especially the foreigners are just attracted by the traditionally cultural values of the local brocade texture with the main character. Di’s textile factory in association with the craft village tourism has met that need, helping tourists to see with their own eyes, and to hear with their own ears” and enjoy the real and lively brocade space of Thai ethnic./.
