Malaysia’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) has just busted a big transnational drug trafficking ring, the agency’s director Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said at a press conference on July 16.

In a raid in Johor state, police arrested 12 suspects aged from 21 to 58,
including 4 Chinese women and four Malaysians. The raiding team seized
5 kg of cocaine,
107.4 litres of liquid
syabu (amphetamine),
5.4 kgof syabu,
1.4 kgof ecstasy pills and
9.1 kgof ephedrine, worth an estimated 6.2 million MYR (1.4 million USD).
The police also confiscated some weapons, including hand grenades, four
handguns along with 140 bullets, 7 cars, and 57,000 MYR in cash.
According to Shariff, the foreign suspects have entered Malaysia
as tourists and planned to transport the drug to Singapore and Indonesia.
