The Republic of Korea (RoK) President Moon Jae-in sent his special envoys to visit China and Japan on March 12 after their recent visits to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States.
In the meeting with Chung Eui-yong, National Security
Advisor for the RoK President Moon Jae-in in Beijing, Chinese President Xi
Jinping said that he expected a smooth DPRK-RoK summit and DPRK-US dialogue.
Xi expressing his hope that there will be substantial
progress in denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and normalization of
relations between the concerned parties.
Chung thanked China for its important leading role in
helping with positive changes on the Korean Peninsula, and said the RoK is
willing to have close coordination with China to maintain the current momentum
on the Peninsula.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also told the visiting RoK
delegation that the two nations should bolster their communication and properly
resolve sensitive issues amid a planned summit between US President Donald
Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.
* According to RoK's presidential office, Japan's Foreign
Minister Taro Kono hailed a recent diplomatic breakthrough on the Korean
Peninsula, describing the current situation as a "moment right before the
miracle".
Kono made the remarks during a meeting with RoK’s Chief of
National Intelligence Service, Suh Hoon, who is in Tokyo on March 12 to brief
Japan's top officials on his visits to Pyongyang and Washington.
In a dramatic turnaround on the Korean Peninsula, US
President Donald Trump agreed last week to hold a summit with DPRK leader Kim
Jong-un by the end of May after Kim expressed his commitment to
denuclearization.
RoK President Moon Jae-in and Kim are also scheduled to hold
a summit in April.
"The current situation is a situation where the moment
right before the miracle" is happening on the Korean Peninsula, Kono told
Suh, according to a statement by RoK's presidential spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom.
Suh will meet
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on March 13, the statement said.
