The 'Luc Ngan-Bac Giang Lychee Week in Hanoi' opened at BigC Thang Long, 222 Tran Duy Hung Street on June 13 as part of Bac Giang's activities to promote lychee consumption this year.

Deputy Head of the Department of Domestic Market under the Ministry of Industry and Trade Hoang, Anh Tuan, said that the lychee week in Hanoi is a practical activity to introduce and promote high-quality Luc Ngan-Bac Giang lychees to the people of Hanoi.

Tuan noted that lychees are now available in nearly all provinces and cities across the country.

Luc Ngan-Bac Giang Lychee Week, which will run until June 20, will offer Hanoian customers top quality lychees from Bac Giang, said Tran Quang Tuan, Director of Bac Giang provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Tuan added that this year's event is held earlier than previous years as the province wishes to hasten the connection with enterprises from the beginning of the harvest to boost the consumption and export of the fruit to Southeast Asia countries, particularly to Thailand, through the chain of BigC supermarkets.

For the first time, BigC supermarkets will offer customers eight types of food and drink made from lychees, such as lychee tea, lychee jelly, lychee juices, fried lychees, lychee doughnuts, among others, said Executive Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility Department at Big C Vietnam, Le Thi Mai Linh.

In particular, Big C Vietnam is scheduled to export the first shipments of lychees to Thailand in the next two days with triple the volume of 2017, Linh added.
