(HBO) –From surveys to evaluate the potential of Tan Lac and Lac Son districts, Tan Lac Son Co-operative in Thanh Hoi commune of Tan Lac district discovered a number of strengths of the localities, including Jiaogulan.

Jiaogulan is a valuable herbal plant good for people’s health. Tan Lac Son Co-operative has decided to invest in standardize the process of producing and developing products from the plant.

So far, in order to make the use of the herb more convenient, the cooperative has produced packed Jiaogulan tea and instant Jiaogulan tea bags. As a result, Jiaogulan tea has become more popular.

The co-operative has set a target of bringing the products to supermarket and pharmacies, thus improving their price and reducing traders’ price pressure on farmers and increasing incomes for farmers.

Along with production, the co-operative has directly guided locals on sustainable harvesting, leaving the roots and seeds of the plants to allow their natural recovery.

Jiaogulan tea produced by Lac Son Co-operative in Thanh Hoi (Tan Lac) has become popular among consumers.

The products have been distributed to Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and An Giang. They have met food safety standards and received origin tracing stamp.

Currently, Jiaogulan tea mostly comes in 2-gram packages for one-month use at a whole sale price of 30,000 VND (1.29 USD) per package and retail price of 50,000 VND per package.

Although the sales remain modest, customers who have used the products gave good feedback on the quality and effects of the products such as helping reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and sleep better.

Do TrongHiep, Vice Director of the co-operative, said that Jiaogulan plants are grown naturally without any interference from the outside during its growth. The material region covers three hectares in rock mountains in Phu Vinh, Phu Cuong and Lo Son.

As a good herbal plant, Jiaogulan are becoming more popular among customers, making it a development potential of the district.

Currently, ratio of the dried product and fresh material is 1/6. The cooperative hopes to receive support in production infrastructure to meet all requirements to announce the quality of the products./.
