The Women’s Union of Hoa Binh province has carried out various measures to promote gender equality over the recent past, seeing it as the key to eliminating violence against women and girls.
The Women’s Union of Yen Thuy district organises
a communications campaign to eliminate gender stereotypes and advocate against
child marriage and families having a third or more children.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the Hoa Binh
Women’s Union Kha Thi Luan, the local union has issued plans and guidance on
building several communications models to raise public awareness of gender and
gender equality, and domestic violence prevention, among others. The move came
as the Vietnam Women’s Union is leading a project on promoting gender equality
and handling urgent issues for women and children under the national target
programme on socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic
minority-inhabited areas.
Due attention has been paid to the organisation
of training courses on the issues, she said, adding the communication work has
been implemented with creative approaches, including social media campaigns,
radio and TV programmes in Vietnamese, Thai and Muong ethnic languages, and
leaflet distribution.
Besides, the women’s unions at all levels have
engaged in various events to promote gender equality and settle urgent issues
related to women and girls, with noteworthy ones comprising the "Hoa Binh women
joining hands to build new-style rural areas” campaign, "peaceful village for
women and girls” model, and those promoting family values, anti-child marriage
and anti-domestic violence.

This model not only aims to improve the learning conditions and enhance the education quality, but it also promotes the message of energy saving, energy security, environmental protection and contributes to the goals of socio-economic development.
In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
