The 19th Asian Physics Olympiad concluded in Hanoi on May 12, with the Vietnamese eight-member delegation winning four gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The four gold medals came to Tran Duc Huy from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School in Hanoi, Nguyen Ngoc Long from Lam Son High School of the central province of Thanh Hoa, Nguyen Van Thanh Loi from Quang Trung High School of southern Binh Phuoc province, and Trinh Duy Hieu from Bac Giang High School of the northern Bac Giang province.

The rest medalists of Vietnam are from Hanoi, Thanh Hoa and northern Quang Ninh province.

Huy also was also received the title of the host contestant with the highest results.

This year, the organization board presented 33 gold, 13 silver and 24 bronze medals and nine special prizes to outstanding contestants.

Assistant Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Rector of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and head of the board, praised the creativity, efforts and determination of the contestants.

Meanwhile, Leong Chuan Kwek, President of the Asian Physics Olympiad spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology’s coordination and support for organising the event.

This year, the 9-day competition drew 188 contestants from 25 countries and territories.

In the previous competition in Yakutsk, Russia from May 1-9, 2017, Vietnam grabbed one gold, three silvers, and three certificates of merit.

There are 10 communes meet new rural standards in Tan Lac distict
