(HBO) - Many production - trading collectives of specific products and services in Hoa Binh have created and registered their collective brands. For traditional handicraft villages and products, the province will provide funding and professional support to assist localities in building models of organization, management and brand development.

Luong Son Organic Vegetables and Lặc Lày fruit with recognizable labels of collective brands are sold at Hoa Binh Safe Food Store in Phuong Lam Ward, Hoa Binh City.

Up to now, the whole province has 12 intellectual properties named after the areas which were successfully guaranteed, including 11 collective brands and 1 geographical indication. Those brands are Hoa Binh Can Wine, Mai Chau brocading products, Hoa Binh purple sugarcanes, Lac Son Dổi seeds, Luong Son Organic Vegetables and Lặc Lày fruit, Son Thuy - Kim Boi longans, Tan Lac Su Su, Tan Lac red grapefruit, Da River fish, Da River shrimp, Lac Thuy oranges and Cao Phong geographical indication for orange products of Cao Phong district.

According to the evaluation of the Department of Science and Technology, the specialized agencies and local people have invested in exploring the potential and strengths of local products of value, which can be considered as specialties to focus on building up their brand names. The initial specific results show that some products have been established their intellectual property rights under the name of the locality, under protection in the country and internationally (Cao Phong geographical indication has been registered protection in the EU). As a result, the awareness of the creation, protection and development of intellectual properties has been gradually improved. This initially shapes the use of intellectual property tools to enhance the value and competitiveness of products, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development, orienting consumers to use quality-guaranteed products. Most of the products protected when being launched to the market are taken care of promotion, initially building the brand and improving production efficiency.

For example, after Cao Phong oranges were granted a certificate of registration of geographical indication in November 2014, they have created its own trademark, and increased the value of oranges. The area and productivity of Organic Vegetables and Lặc Lày fruit of Luong Son district have increased when being granted protection for collective brands in December 2014. These products are sold well and are present in the food stores in the province and other provinces, etc.
