(HBO) – The elderly’s exercise club of the north-western province of Hoa Binh recently held a ceremony to mark its 20th founding anniversary and an exchange at the province’s Youth and Teenager Cultural Centre.

On March 1999, the pensioners’ club of Hoa Binh city (now the province’s pensioners’ club) formed an elderly’s exercise club with nearly 100 members. To date, there have been 250 full members of the provincial pensioner’s club and over 1,000 practitioners, along with collaborators of districts and communes in Hoa Binh city.

At the beginning, the club invited instructors from Hanoi to guide complicated martial arts like Tai Chi Chuan and the exercise with staff, among others. Now, the members are able to practice by themselves and create new exercises, while providing guidance for other members and practitioners.

The managing board of the club has closely worked with districts and communes to promote the exercise campaign in the localities.

After nearly 20 years since the establishment of the club, all communes and districts of Hoa Binh have regular practitioners. For sport events and festivals, the club proactively participates in mass performances. The managing board and communes organise competitions annually, offering chances for its members and practitioners to meet and learn from each other, improving their techniques.

With its achievements over the years, the club and many individuals and members have received various certificate of merits and prizes from local authorities./.
