"For the Heart of Children” Charity Club hands over free cups of porridge to patients.

The progamme has been implemented since December 2, 2018. After three weeks, the club provided free porridge for nearly 400 people, thus making them feel warmer when having medical check-ups and treatment at Yen Thuy district’s General Hospital.

At 10am every Sunday, volunteers of the club come to the hospital to provide free porridge for poor patients. To define the beneficiaries, club members come to each department to reckon and deliver tickets to receive porridge to each patient. Club members gather on Saturday evenings to allocate work to each member. In the early morning of Sunday, they buy ingredients to make porridge to ensure that the porridge is always fresh, delicious, nutritious and hygienic

Each pot of porridge is estimated at over 700,000 VND which is raised from donors and local units and enterprises. Club members have to prepare two pots of porridge each time. The main ingredients for the pots are bones, meat and vegetables, and they are changed after each time to ensure nutrition.

Bui Thu Huyen in Lac Hung commune shared: "This is the first time I have received free porridge. I feel very glad and warm. I am caring for my daughter who is being hospitalised. As my family is poor, I am provided with free porridge on Saturday. This is a significant charitable activity. I hope the club will have more charitable activities like this to help disadvantaged families like us”.

Le Van Thuan, co-head of the club, said: "the ‘For the Heart of Children’ Charity Club was set up on December 25, 2012. We carried out charitable activities in many places in Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Gia Lai. At present, we maintain the organisation of the ‘beloved porridge pot’ model at Yen Thuy district’s General Hospital. We plan to provide free milk for patients who are living in difficult circumstances”./.
