(HBO) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Hoa Binh province held a meeting on August 24 to honour prestigious individuals as well as outstanding village patriarchs and religious dignitaries in 2017. The event was attended by Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Tran Dang Ninh and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Cuu. Hoang Thanh Mich, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and President of the provincial VFF Committee, chaired the meeting.
Hoa Binh province now has 673 prestigious persons and prominent
village patriarchs and religious dignitaries. Over the past years, they have
taken the lead in encouraging ethnic minority and religious communities to
engage in production activities, emulation movements and campaigns launched by
the Party, the State and the VFF.

Addressing the conference, Tran Dang Ninh, Deputy
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial
People’s Council, lauded the efforts by prestigious persons, village patriarchs
and religious dignitaries in Hoa Binh. He affirmed that with their voices and
wholehearted devotion, they have connected local communities, upheld the
national strength and disseminated the Party and State’s policies to local
people.
Ninh stressed that as Hoa Binh province is going
to implement a number of socio-economic development plans and community-based
livelihoods programmes in ethnic minority-inhabited areas, the prestigious
persons and village patriarchs and village heads should continue encouraging
local residents to support these programmes and projects.
He also voiced his hope that they will play an important role
in promoting a civilized lifestyle in local communities and fighting social
crimes and old-fashioned customs, especially child and consanguineous marriages.
On this occasion, the official also asked
authorities at all levels and sectors to pay more attention to policies
targeting ethnic minority-inhabited areas and the implementation of economic
development programmes in those areas to improve living conditions of local
residents.

At the event, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party
Committee Tran Dang Ninh and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee
Bui Van Cuu presented 50 gift packages. The provincial VFF Committee granted
certificates of merit to 50 outstanding persons, village patriarchs and
religious dignitaries.

Da Bac is the most disadvantaged mountainous district in Hoa Binh province, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 90% of its population. Over the past years, the district has mobilised resources to implement ethnic policies to improve the quality of life of local people.
In recent years, Hoa Binh province has consistently prioritised the protection, care, and education of children, particularly those from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds, by creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their all-round development.
The Steering Committee for Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control of Hoa Binh province, in coordination with the Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control Fund, held a ceremony on May 28 in response to the World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and the National No Tobacco Week (from May 25 to 31). The event was chaired by Nguyen Van Toan, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Steering Committee.
Since 2021, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (CIIDC) under the Department of Industry and Trade has been implementing a school lighting model as part of the plan for using energy efficiently and economically in Hoa Binh Province in the pẻiod of 2021 - 2025. This model not only aims to improve the learning conditions and enhance the education quality, but it also promotes the message of energy saving, energy security, environmental protection and contributes to the goals of socio-economic development.
In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
