(HBO) - After nine years, the rural area has changed positively thanks to the efforts of local authorities and people. The commune has raised over 170 billion VND to implement the new-style rural building programme, of which people contributed over 12 billion VND.

 

The rural transport system in Vinh Dong commune, Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province has been upgraded to meet the travel and trade demands of locals.

Infrastructure facilities have been upgraded. The canal and irrigation system has met the production demand. All hamlets in the commune have cultural houses and sports playgrounds. More than 86 percent of households have been recognised as cultural families. Over 98 percent of locals have joined health insurance while 100 percent of households have gained access to hygienic water.

The commune has focused on building effective models growing key crops such as pumpkins, bitter melons, vegetables, potatoes, and fruits, as well as raising buffalos, cows and chicken.

In 2019, the average per capita income was estimated at over 32 million VND, up over 12 million VND compared to 2011. The rate of poor households dropped to 10.6 percent. At the end of 2019, Vinh Dong was recognised as a new-style rural area by the provincial People’s Committee.

The commune is striving to develop production in association with agricultural restructuring and expand effective models that bring in high economic efficiency.

It will open more vocational training courses for locals and increase loans for people who just got out of poverty to develop production and business.

The commune will continue upgrading socio-economic infrastructure and raising public awareness of keeping the environment clean, while expanding waste treatment and environmental protection models./.

Progress in ethnic minority education

In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
