(HBO) - With part of its fund and donations of its staff and members, together with those of collectives and individuals, all levels of Hoa Binh province’s association of farmers have over the years carried out a programme helping poor farmers to settle down and overcome hardships.

Bui Van Vuong in Van
hamlet, Lien Son commune (Luong Son district) moved into his new house over a
year ago, although sometimes he still thinks that he was dreaming. He had been
living in difficulties and his wife was perennially ill, so he could not build
a proper house for the family.
In addition to assistance
worth 20 million VND (about 870 USD) of all levels of the farmer associations,
its commune level one helped him with the construction cost.
The 55-sq.m.-house was
completed after more than two months of construction. The total construction
cost was nearly 90 million VND, funded primarily by his family members,
relatives and the community. Farmers in the commune and hamlet also helped
Vuong build the house so that he had a shelter before the rainy season.
Last June, the association
in Yen Thuy district handed over a house and financial aid for farmer Bui Van
Thiep in Luong Thanh hamlet, Lac Luong commune. The house, 50 sq.m, was built
at a cost of 86 million VND funded by staff and members of the farmer
association and local organisations.
The campaign to build
houses for disadvantaged farmers has been carried out by the associations of
farmers at district and city levels. Since the start of the year, construction
of seven houses has started with support of between 20-25 million VND for each
across the districts of Kim Boi, Yen Thuy, Da Bac and Tan Lac. Two of those Da
Bac and Yen Thuy were handed over to farmers.
Furthermore, the
province’s farmer association joined hands with the Fatherland Front Committee
to build five "great unity” houses for poor families in Lac Son district, with
assistance worth 30 million VND for each./.

Da Bac is the most disadvantaged mountainous district in Hoa Binh province, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 90% of its population. Over the past years, the district has mobilised resources to implement ethnic policies to improve the quality of life of local people.
In recent years, Hoa Binh province has consistently prioritised the protection, care, and education of children, particularly those from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds, by creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their all-round development.
The Steering Committee for Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control of Hoa Binh province, in coordination with the Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control Fund, held a ceremony on May 28 in response to the World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and the National No Tobacco Week (from May 25 to 31). The event was chaired by Nguyen Van Toan, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Steering Committee.
Since 2021, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (CIIDC) under the Department of Industry and Trade has been implementing a school lighting model as part of the plan for using energy efficiently and economically in Hoa Binh Province in the pẻiod of 2021 - 2025. This model not only aims to improve the learning conditions and enhance the education quality, but it also promotes the message of energy saving, energy security, environmental protection and contributes to the goals of socio-economic development.
In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
