(HBO) - Being born and raised in a poor family in So, an extremely difficult hamlet in a remote area in Trung Thanh (Da Bac), in the 2021 high school graduation exam, Xa Thi Hue scored a total of 29.75 points. Many relatives and friends were surprised by the high score. However, knowing the effort overcoming the difficulties of this little student of the Tay ethnic group, you can't help admiring.

We crossed a distance of nearly 70 km from Hoa Binh city to Hue's house, the roads are mostly steep and winding, especially the road from the center of Trung Thanh commune to So village is very difficult, jagged with rocks, and there are deep cliffs on the other side. There are 63 households in So hamlet, of which 26 ones are poor, the rest ones are mainly near-poor. Their income source is mainly from raising pigs and chickens, growing Keo trees and working for other employers. like many other families in the hamlet, Hue's family is also very difficult, there is no valuable furniture in the house, the income is uncertain, especially due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemics recently. 

Despite the difficult situation, Hue's parents never intended that Hue would drop out of school. Instead, they have always encouraged her to try to study and rise up. Every time they sell a litter of pigs and chickens or collect money from selling Keo trees, they save money so that their children can continue studying. Once when there is less meat in the bowl of rice, the little girl also has the opportunity to learn more. Attending Yen Hoa High School (Yen Hoa commune), which was nearly 20 km away from home, her parents rented the accommodation near the school to create conditions for Hue’s study. Feeling the difficulties of her parents, Hue always tried to study at school, and she studied for another 5-6 hours from evening to late at night to do advanced exercises and practice skills. On the weekends, she went home to help her parents with the housework. Her parents also often encouraged her to study, giving wings to the child's dream of becoming a teacher.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Ha, Hue’s headteacher at Yen Hoa High School, said: "Hue is a diligent, gentle and humble student. Despite the difficult situation, she is very conscious and makes great efforts in her studies. Every year, her achievements in school are really good, and she won the consolation prize in the provincial exam for excellent students in Geography. The other teachers also always create conditions, answer the questions to help her. Hue's persistent efforts to overcome difficulties and study well have become a shining example for other students in the school.”

In the poor commune of Trung Thanh, many children have also passed the entrance exam to university, however, no one has ever achieved such high scores in the national graduation exam. Hue achieved a total score of 29.75 points in 3 subjects (there are 2.75 priority points), in which she got 8.75 points for Literature, 9 points for History, 9.25 points for Geography. Seeing her efforts in the learning process, the family members, the friends and the teachers all believed that she would get good points, but a total score of 29.75 was really a surprise, even for Hue.

"Thanks to studying hard and practicing through many types of exam questions, when I took the exam, I was not stressed and could do the difficult tasks. I was confident with Geography, however, the fact that I got a high score in Literature, really surprised me”, said Hue. With the results achieved, Hue chose Hanoi University to study and continue her dreams.

Recognizing the efforts to excel in studying and the outstanding achievements of the little student of Tay ethnic group, the branches, the communual Party Committees, an the approprate authorities and Yen Hoa High School shared the joy and presented many gifts to encourages her in the upcoming journeys. The effort of the student in a poor rural area is a shining example of a studious spirit and a will to overcome the fate. Additionally, it is very necessary to have the attention of organizations and individuals who are kind to help Hue so that her path to the university gate is less difficult.
