(HBO) - On April 13rd, at Kim Dong Secondary School (Tan Lac), the Department of Education and Training jointly held a ceremony to hand over the laptops sponsored to Hoa Binh province by Qualcomm through the Dariu Foundation. On the side of Hoa Binh province, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the leaders from Tan Lac district and the Department of Education and Training attending the cerenomy. On the sponsor side, there were Mr. Lew Sze Thai, thye Vice President of Qualcomm Corporation as well as the President of Qualcomm Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand and the representatives from Qualcomm Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh, the Director of Dariu Foundation and the representatives from the Dariu Fund and the Dariu Foundation.

In this funding round, Qualcomm through the Dariu Foundation, continued handing over 60 laptops to the Department of Education and Training to create more conditions for the provincial education and training sector to carry out the task of digital transformation, focusing on enhancing the digital skills for teachers and students. Thus, since 2021 the Dariu Foundation has mobilized the resources, especially the resources from Qualcomm, to support the Education and Training sector of Hoa Binh with nearly 500 laptops, 65 sets of desktops, and 30 tablets, 945 smartphones and 620 Micro Bit microcontroller circuits to deploy the universal digital skills to the schools. Hoa Binh Department of Education and Training has directed the Sub-departments of Education and Training of the districts, the city and the schools to effectively use the sponsored equipment resources by lending students rotating loans to study online, which has been actively contributing to the effective organization of online teaching in the context of the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemics. 

Making a speech at the handover ceremony, the leaders from the Department of Education and Training affirmed their determination to effectively use the devices sponsored by Qualcomm and The Dariu Foundation, effectively contributing to improving the efficiency of digital transformation in education and training. Along with the effective use of the equipment, the education and training sectormwould continue to implement teaching computer science with MicroBit circuits. They would establish the programming clubs, STEM clubs to the junior and high school students... Especially, in the coming time, the Department of Education and Training would actively direct the universalization of digital skills for teachers and students, creating more motivation to promote the digital transformation in education and training in the period of 2022 - 2025, with orientation to 2030.

Progress in ethnic minority education

In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
