(HBO) – Three students at the top of their game in Hoa Binh province recently received national recognition as excellent students under the Ministry of Education and Training’s national exam results.

Nguyen Hai Duong, a grade 11 student majoring in English from Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted claimed second prize in the English language at the national exam for excellent students, while 11th grader Chu Thanh Binh won second prize in biology led by teacher Vu Kieu Manh. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh won second prize in biology in grade 12.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s national exam results for 2021-2022, Hoa Binh province had 23 students who scored well.

Hoa Binh province put forth 68 student candidates competing in 12 subjects including, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, Biology, English language, Russian language, French language and Chinese language.

As a result, there were 23 winners, including 3 second prizes, 7 third prizes, and 13 consolation prizes.

This academic year saw increases over 2020 - 2021, with 12 more prizes in total, and an increase in the number of second and third prizes. This is a great achievement for a rural province that still faces many challenges in educational development.

Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted’s biology team had a stellar year with 4 excellent students, Chu Thanh Binh (11th grade majoring in Biology), Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (grade 12 majoring in Biology), Do Hong Quan (grade 12 specializing in Biology), Quach Hoang Xuat (grade 12 specializing in Biology).

With the achievement of 4 award winners, including 2 second prizes, 1 third prize, 1 consolation prize, this year's Biology team made significant contributions to the province’s prize winners.

Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted and Provincial High School for Ethnic Minorities High School have consistently strived to improve educational quality.

The principal of Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted, Bui Van Duong said that each year, the school works hard to achieve great results in the national excellent student exams.

The majority of students at Hoang Van Thu participated in the provincial excellent student team, and the school is the driving force behind the province’s academic efforts.

This year’s national excellent student exam results reaffirm the leading role of the two educational institutions, a highlight in the quality of education in the province./.

Progress in ethnic minority education

In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
