(HBO) - On November 16th, the Provincial Women's Union held a conference to implement project 8, "Implementing the gender equality and solving the urgent problems for women and children” at the provincial level in 2022There were representatives of leaders from the provincial Women's Union and 80 delegates from 10 districts and the city attending the conference.

Project 8 is chaired and
implemented by the Vietnamese Women's Union under the National Target Program
for the socio-economic development in the areas of ethnic minority and
mountainous ones in the period of 2021-2030, phase I: from 2021- 2025 has been
approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1719, dated October 14, 2022. The
target audience of the project is women and girls in extremely difficult
communes. The project's objective is to raise the awareness and change the
gender stereotypes; taking care and solving some urgent problems for women and
children.
In Hoa Binh, the Provincial
Women's Union has directed the project implementation in 4 districts: Da Bac,
Lac Son, Cao Phong, Yen Thuy. In which, each district selects 2 suitable
communes to focus the resources and comprehensively intervene in the project's
models. The districts have been allocated funds to stimulate the demand for the
activities; at the same time, it is actively integrated it into the national
target programs, the other programs, schemes and projects of the localities and
the units and they have coordinated with appropriate departments and agencies
to build the models and support women and children. They have clearly defined
their roles and responsibilities and mobilized the resources among the members
and women to promote their potential and internal resources in implementing the
project activities.
At the conference, the delegates
have been guided to implement the project's activities; deploying and directing
the project's intervention models and activities; sharing and updating the
problems in the local implementation; discussing solutions to coordinate the
project implementation; exchanging and answering the project issues, gender
analysis and gender mainstreaming in the policy formulation.

Da Bac is the most disadvantaged mountainous district in Hoa Binh province, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 90% of its population. Over the past years, the district has mobilised resources to implement ethnic policies to improve the quality of life of local people.
In recent years, Hoa Binh province has consistently prioritised the protection, care, and education of children, particularly those from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds, by creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their all-round development.
The Steering Committee for Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control of Hoa Binh province, in coordination with the Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control Fund, held a ceremony on May 28 in response to the World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and the National No Tobacco Week (from May 25 to 31). The event was chaired by Nguyen Van Toan, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Steering Committee.
Since 2021, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (CIIDC) under the Department of Industry and Trade has been implementing a school lighting model as part of the plan for using energy efficiently and economically in Hoa Binh Province in the pẻiod of 2021 - 2025. This model not only aims to improve the learning conditions and enhance the education quality, but it also promotes the message of energy saving, energy security, environmental protection and contributes to the goals of socio-economic development.
In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire Hoa Binh provincial education sector includes 520 educational institutions and schools. Among them are 13 ethnic boarding schools with 153 classes and 4,487 students. Four of these schools have met national standards, reaching 30.7 percent.
