(HBO) – Khuoc hamlet in Cao Son commune, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province, was once isolated from the outside world. There was only a trail leading to the locality.

Thanks to the upgrading of the local transport system, Khuoc villagers have experienced changes in their lives.

According to Bui Van Tuong, head of the hamlet, before the upgrading of the local transport system, more than 50 households there, mainly belonging to Muong and Dao ethnic groups, only cultivated corn and cassava. After a concrete road running through the mountain and connecting Khuoc with other hamlets and low-lying areas was built, the living standards of local residents have been improved.

Many households have utilised scientific-technological applications in planting trees of high economic values like orange and pomelo.

The hamlet has also been known as a source of cows, chickens and goats in Luong Son. Thanks to new mindset and investments in production, many of the households have escaped from the poverty, even becoming well-off.

Statistics show that in 2022, up to 80% of the households were recognised as cultural ones. More than 60% of the residents participated in health insurance. The average income of each resident stood at 35 million VND.

Tuong said there were only nine poor and near-poor households in the hamlet, noting that the locality will focus on supporting the households, with the pioneering role of Party members to be carried forward in the efforts.
