According to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Hoa Binh has nearly 231,600 children, accounting for 26.7% of the population.

A steering committee has been established for implementing the locality’s child protection programme. All the 10 districts and Hoa Binh city have executive boards for the child affairs, and 151 communes, wards and townships have child protection boards.

In 2022, the provincial People's Committee and the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs issued many documents on child care, protection, and education.

Departments, sectors and social organisations coordinated to organise many activities, including launching an action month for children, children forums at all levels, presenting gifts to children on holidays and Tet festivals, organising campaigns to raise awareness for parents, caregivers and children, and providing professional knowledge for staff.

With tireless efforts and effective measures taken by the local authorities, the child care, protection, and education of the province has recorded important outcomes.

The Centre for Social Work and the Child Protection Fund of Hoa Binh have received and cared for 36 children with difficult circumstances, and provided support services for child victims of violence and abuse in the community, contributing to reducing the number of children with special circumstances, creating opportunities for children to develop comprehensively.

Localities have actively sketched out programmes and plans and allocated human resources and budgets to implement child protection programmes in the province. The police have strengthened guidance and inspection to prevent and combat child abuse, especially sexual one.

Attention has been paid to educating children. The Action Month for Children launched in the locality and forums on children has contributed to raising awareness and knowledge of children, and provided them with skills to protect themselves and prevent violence, abuse, and injuries.

Children's voice and aspirations on related issues have been conveyed to leaders of relevant agencies, sectors and localities.

Vice Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Linh Ngoc said thanks to the harmonious implementation of solutions, the public awareness on the child work has been increasingly improved.

Child care, protection, and education protection activities gradually have met the child protection work’s requirements at all the three levels. The child protection services have proven effective, contributing to bringing children equal opportunities for comprehensive development in a safe environment, she said.
