(HBO) - Responding to Humanitarian Month in 2023 launched by the Provincial Red Cross with the theme "joining hands to build a compassionate community”, the Red Cross at all levels in the area and the businesses and appropriate authorities, the philanthropist have organized many practical, humane and meaningful activities for the poor and the disadvantaged in the society, creating a strong effect in the community.

Mr. Bui Quoc Viet, the Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross says: With the theme "joining hands to build a compassionate community”, this year's Humanitarian Month is the peak month of the year for the Provincial Red Cross at all levels to simultaneously deploy the propaganda activities, mobilize the resources and build social funds to support the vulnerable groups in society, building a safe, loving community, a society which is rich in compassion and happiness. The humanitarian activities help the beneficiary households feel the human and meaningful values that the Red Cross and the community give them. At the same time, it helps spread strongly to all classes of people and communities and the benefactors so that they join and accompany.

Promoting propaganda, during the Humanitarian Month, the Provincial Red Cross has cooperated with Hoa Binh Newspaper, the Provincial Radio and Television Station to strengthen propaganda about humanitarian and charity programs; Propagandizing on websites and fanpages of all levels of the Red Cross. During the peak period from May 8 to 19, the Red Cross focused on propagating the purpose, meaning and activities of the Humanitarian Month, thereby it has helped mobilizing the resources from the appropriate authorities, individuals and benefactors.

There are not onl the valuable resources mobilized and given promptly to the poor and sick, the Humanitarian Month's activities have also contributed to arousing, promoting and spreading the spirit of solidarity among all of the classes of the people. In the past May, the Red Cross at all levels repaired, built new houses, and handed over many "Red Cross” houses, giving gifts and necessities to the people with extremely difficult circumstances; helping those suffering from serious diseases, the poor students overcoming difficulties; providing free medical examination and medicine to the people in remote and isolated areas. In which, the Red Cross at all levels has supported to repair and build 8 new houses, which is worth 480 million VND; giving 8 cows worth 86 million VND to 8 the families through the "Cow Bank” program in the following districts: Mai Chau, Kim Boi, Lac Son…; giving free medical examination, consultation and medicine to 590 people which is worth 97 million VND; giving health insurance cards to 200 people in difficult circumstances, which is worth nearly 161 million VND.

From the mobilized fund, the Red Cross has supported equipment worth 78 million VND for the kitchens of 2 worth 78 million VND; supporting 730 humanitarian addresses, which is worth 655 million VND. They have been implementing the model of "Shared meal” at hospitals, medical facilities, the Red Cross at all levels has distributed 1,320 free meals worth 25.6 million VND. At the same time, they have given gifts worth over 1 billion dongs to more than 1,300 patients with the serious diseases and difficult circumstances, who are being treated at the hospitals,...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, a member of Tan Lac District's Nhan Ai Club, says: Implementing the program of "Shared meals”, responding to the activities in the Humanitarian Month, the club cooked and distributed free porridge for the patients who have to undergo long-term treatment at the district’s hospital. Among the patients who has received porridge, many are in very difficult circumstances. There are patients suffering from sẻious illness and having no relatives to take care of and not having meals everyday. Receiving a free meal, everyone is happy, making me and other members in the club also excited, feeling that we are doing the meaningful things.

The practical effects from the activities in the Humanitarian Month in 2023 have shown the concern and responsibility of the society towards the vulnerable, the poor and disadvantaged, spreading the spirit of solidarity and mutual understanding, contributing to the good implementation of the social security policies in the locality.
