Quach Chi Bao and Quach Xuan Bac, 19-year-old twin brothers in Doi 2 hamlet, Kim Boi commune in the district of the same name, have sent in applications for voluntary enlistment in the army.

Following medical examinations, both Bao and Bac were informed that they are
eligible to join the army. However, according to the Law on Military
Obligation, one of the two will be temporarily exempted from military
enlistment. Therefore, both of them have voluntary registered for military
service.
Bao said young people must perform their military duty, which is
also citizens’ obligation, expressing his belief that the army will give him
new experiences and help him become more mature. Meanwhile, Bac said he wants
to contribute to national defence.
Their father Quach Van Tai said he and other family members have encouraged the
twins to fulfill their assigned military obligations, and hope that they will
be more resilient and mature in the military environment.
Bui Van Cuong, head of the Military Command of Kim Boi commune, said this is
the first case in the locality when both twin brothers sent in applications to
voluntarily join the army at the same time.
In this recruitment round, Kim Boi has 30 young participants, four of them
voluntary, he said.
A workshop on promoting the role of reputable individuals and religious dignitaries in popularising and promoting gender equality in ethnic minorities and mountainous areas was held by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) in Hoa Binh province on July 16.
